Cities and tourist places

A 25-minute drive from Damarco are Schio and Thiene, very pleasant towns that are well worth a visit. From here Vicenza, the city of Palladio, is only 30 km away. From Schio or Vicenza one can easily reach, by train or car, the cities of Verona and Venice.

For lovers of sought-after but less touristy locations, there are many hidden treasures to discover such as Bassano del Grappa, Marostica, Castelfranco Veneto or the picturesque village of Asolo. And why with the opportunity not explore the famous prosecco area of Valdobbiadene?

The charm of the mountains

Thanks to the striking mountain "Novegno," on whose slope Damarco is located, there is a great attraction at hand. Two winding roads and a variety of trails lead up to Novegno. Damarco, at 915m above sea level, lies halfway between Schio (350m above sea level) and the so-called Busa del Novegno (1550m). Right on Mount Novegno, in the summer season, when the cows graze in the wild meadows, a small malga produces delicious cheeses. The adjacent tavern serves traditional local dishes. Because of its strategic location, Cerbaro attracts many cyclists and motorcyclists.

Other very nice destinations for day trips are the nearby mountains of Priaforà, Summano, and Pasubio.

The nearby Asiago Plateau is a popular destination for cross-country skiing as well as for summer hiking and mountain biking.

Historical sites

During World War I (1914-1918) on the Novegno and Asiago plateaus, Italian troops faced off with Austro-Hungarian troops, leaving behind a series of trenches and military structures. Many of the sites are still visible such as the Enna fort just 8 km from Damarco, the trenches and caves of Priaforà or Fort Rivòn on Mount Novegno.

The most scenic and recommended hike is the "road of 52 tunnels," a military route on the protected southwestern ridge of Mount Pasubio. Soldiers built 52 tunnels in the rock to supply ammunition to the defensive lines. Today the 52 Tunnels Road can be walked in 2-3 hours and offers breathtaking views of the mountains in the area. The Papa hut will be waiting for you for a hearty lunch at the end of the trail. The starting point of the "Road" is only 14 km from Damarco.

Sea, lakes and rivers

The Adriatic beach of Jesolo is only a 1.5-hour drive from Damarco. About the same distance must be traveled to get to Lake Garda or the Trentino lakes of Levico and Caldonazzo.

The nearest point for a dip in refreshing waters is a 40-minute drive to Contrà Pria.

Hot springs

If you want a relaxing day in comfortable heated pools, the famous hot springs of Abano Terme near Padua are an hour's drive from Damarco. Numerous hotels and luxury baths offer spa treatments, sauna, massage, and medical care.

From Damarco you can also visit the historic spa of Recoaro Terme, located in a fascinating mountainous area. At present, the spa offers specific therapeutic treatments and operates only seasonally.
